Nokia released nokia 5800 on 8 october 2008, the launch price was around 25000 RS .... with stunning features.... people almost went crazy luking at d touch screen and its features.... for d first time people ignoring iphone shifted to nokia5800 touch phone..... :P but it did not last long...
after the nokia 5800's release each and every person started making blogs for nokia 5800 wid games apps..... if u google nokia 5800 games.... u ll have literally 1000's of websites blogs updating their games for this phone every day.... people later started understanding abt the OS and started making complete use of this phone by installing 3rd party games apps themes and customised this phone....
then later nokia released nokia 5800 navigation edition wid the only difference is the colour and free life time navigation facility for free...... few people purchased it.... and it went flop.... and was removed off shelf....
Nokia then reduced around 5000 rs of its nokia 5800 phone... then even middle class people started purchasing, again there was a boom in sales...... nokia ordered the parts and produced more quantity of it.... for cost cutting or unknowingly :P used lower grades of parts... which led to earpiece defeact in 1000's of phones....
but still the demand did not reduce for it..... as for people they had only 2 option for touch hone... 1 is nokia 5800 which is cheap and the iphone 2g...... so majority preferd nokia 5800.... then later the sales started droping gradually.... but nokia had already produced excess quantity of nokia 5800 ..... they then released Nokia 5230 .... ha ha ... the only difference between nokia 5800 and nokia 5230 is the camera... the earlier one has 2 mega pixel camera and our tube has 3.2 MP.....
there was lot of colour option available to people... and it is cheaper compared to nokia 5800 again the demand increased for nokia touch phone..... few people luking at the spec and review came to noe the fact abt its difference between those phone and again the demand dropped....
then they later released nokia 5530 whith different body and it lacked gps and had 4 gb memory card given by nokia wid the box...... lukin at the different outer body few people purchased... but not much..... as people now started understanding about each features and abt the phone....
Then samsung and lg emerged wid their touch phone like lg cookie samsung touch 3g..... they were around 9000 RS.... they had much better features than nokia 5800 and even their price is comparitively low..... the only thing is it lacks symbian os..!! which is a big thing ... but people wid out much os knowledge did not considered it as a big thing to stop them from buying the samsung lg phones....
seeing this nokia then released nokia N97 wid qwerty keyboard fm transmitter and 5 MP camera.... rest all spec are the same compared wid nokia 5800.... again the nokia 's sales touched the sky.... it was too costly.... so then nokia made nokia n97 mini which luks same as nokia n97 but the screen dimension was little smaller and few more changes like Kinetic scrolling in list.... the price diference was not that much... people prefered nokia n97 compared to n97 mini...
but still the competition between nokia and samsung remained..... as samsung released their touch phones wid kinetic scrlling and much better visual UI compared to nokia phones.... later they released nokia x6 x10 and all crapy phone.... useless.... with again few changes like capacitive touch screen.....
Now finally nokia is going to release N8 with symbian^3 os.... best of their phones till today....
the ui and features are mind blowing... i hope nokia wud have changed their product designer :P
if we c.... till today nokia has released many touch phones like nokia 5800 n97 n97 mini 5230 5530 x6.... the biggest mistake they made in designing the product is the hardware.... they gave arm 414 processor and 128 ram and 80 phone memory etc ... the nokia s product designer does not have any idea in allocating and dividing the features between phones..... their main aim is to change the outer luk of the phone and push it off shelf(oops no offense jus my thought).... they never spent quality time in product designing and choosing a proper product designer.... so they have started failing compared to other brands like htc sony samsung lg..... even now the sales rate is average and not falling just bcoz of the Nokia "name" in the market all around the world....
10000's of nokia 5800 users have dumped their nokia 5800 and shifted to other phones but now nokia has released a firmware update wid the changes which nokia 5800 users were asking since one and a half year.... but now its too late Nokia.... :P timing is more important ....
Now if they do these stupid mistakes again in product designing in their future phone... omg God noes wat ll b the peoples reaction :P
Now am eagerly waitin for Nokia N8 .... it is definately a killer phone with stunning features.... 've seen the features... its gud.... hope nokia will use their brain in assigning the price for this phone... :P
